So this is it, at least for now, my 100th post! Till new big things are happening for Housestories I will give this blog a rest and update you further on Facebook.
But for this last post I am particularly proud to say that we are mentioned in ‘the green issue’, the latest inflight magazine from the Spanish flight company VUELING. The magazine is filled with ecological issues. Brussels is mentioned in the top 4 of ‘greenest’ cities in Europe, in good company of Vienna, Zurich and Amsterdam.
Proud that Housestories was selected as the only ’green’ aparthotel to illustrate the ecological mindset in our capital!
Very proud that 106 people, and no I don’t know all of them, became a Housestories Fan.
It might seem like a happy few to most of you I guess and you wonder why I make such a fuzz about it?
I really find it extra ordinary that a small start-up, that most people have never seen/experienced/visited, and that was just invented by Alexandre and me on the corner of a table, has enough power to let people express their love for it.
It is like someone looks at your baby and finds it the most amazing creature on earth…Wow, it is touching and I thank all of our fans, it is great!

I started this blog on October 14th 2008. My main drive was to have ‘something’ to show to our suppliers when I was shopping for beds, furniture, towels, bed sheets etc as we had no site, no logo and no identity. The only thing we had was a house in full renovation. The renovation took longer due to the fact that the house became a Monument.
The blog became a way to express some thoughts and share some ideas. However, I realize that it is not a blog in the proper way a blog should be. So I wonder, should I quite? I am thinking about stopping at 100 posts. What do you think?
Interesting article last weekend in De Morgen. I guess some years ago DM would have never talked about Hostels. Hostels were for drunk youngsters on a shoestring budget. Not any more these days…they offer everything hotels offer such as pools, suites, hip bars, etc. But they offer even more: the possibility to meet people with the same attitude towards life. They even have their own award show called the Hoscars, funny no?
And this year, the winner is Travellers House in Lisbon. Will definitely go there one day, for now, I am looking for options in Paris…great hostels, unfortunately all booked when I want to go

Bad rip off of Hotel Babylon is the VTM series : Dag & nacht Hotel Oburon. Really horrible program, still if you want to see it, click here for the link.
I must admit that inspiration comes far often more from Hotels than from Aparthotels. One of my favourite BBC programs is Hotel Babylon. Hilarious and intriguing to see how these big famous hotels are supposed to work. While looking at the LibDub of Le Martinez I couldn’t help to think about the cast of Hotel Babylon. Bet they would have swinged a lot more
I was looking for hotel blogs and found out there are zillions. For some reason I couldn’t find any blogs kept by Aparthotels.
Why?
I guess because most Aparthotels are led by real estate groups and the bulk of their money is made on the added value of their buildings. Renting out the furnished apartments is a side activity for most of them. They have activities also in elderly homes, hotels and non furnished apartments.
Anyway, drifting away. Maybe you can tell me why Aparthotel owners don’t run blogs…
So one of these Hotel blogs, click here to be directed to it has a hilarious post on the latest trend apparently in Hotelland : LibDubs. Unfortunately I can’t upload videos for some weird reason but please go and have a look at Hotel Martinez’s LibDub. Pretty shabby if you ask me!
I don’t immediately see Alexandre and me do it though. Probably the biggest mistake in the new cyber trend!
Click here for the link to the magazine’s website. Cool!
